Independent Comics Round up for: 29 August 2018

Harbinger Wars 2 #4, Writer: Matt kindt, Artist: Tomas Giorello

Valiant have built a small universe of characters which has not grown out of control yet and is easily managed across the various books. This is nowhere more evident than in this mini-series.

I love tales of a lone hero that decides to stand up to the system at great personal cost and we get this in spades in this series.

Livewire is a fave character of mine and I am happy to see her front and centre of this tale and being a bad ass to boot.

This is the last issue in a four-issue run in which the premise is that Livewire is tired of the government treating psiots as guinea pigs and weapons, especially the young ones. She reaches her breaking point and takes a stance which pits her against almost the entire roster of Valiant characters.

The whole arc has been well written and with enough action for any of you adrenaline junkies.

The aftermath of this arc will rumble on for a while in the Valiant universe

Naija Geek Says: A most enjoyable 8/10

X-O Manowar#18, Writer: Matt Kindt, Artist: Trevor Hairsine

This brings to the end the recent arc if stories looking back at Arics past and some of his adventures.

Not much happens really in this issue beyond us learning that his new acquaintance, Sabbas, is someone we will be seeing again in the present. How this is possible I am eager to see but beyond that this is just a 'by the numbers' adventure tale set in ancient times.

This could easily have been dropped in a Conan comic and I would not even have blinked.

It is not badly written, far from it and I am not even sure Kindt can write a bad story but this just felt like the last issue in a filler arc. So I am glad it is over and we can now get back to XO Manowar being a bad ass in the present.

Naija Geek Says: An okay 6/10
