Not a lot of highlights this week and the last to be honest. A few decent books but nothing that stands out from the group.
So I have picked a few to discuss randomly for this week.
Flash #70 - Writer: Joshua Williamson, Artist: Howard Porter
Yes DC are now doing another rewrite of an origin story, smh.
This issues kicks off a Flash Year One tale and the story is already different from what we have known previously about his origins.
This story is not exactly bad but adds nothing great and I just feel bored with this constant revision that DC does, so much so that I can't get excited over this new take knowing that in another five years they will probably change it again.
At this point the new take is not good enough to overcome my ennui.
One for the DC completists who want to remain "current"
Naija Geek Says: An ok 6/10
The Unstoppable Wasp #7: Writer:Jeremy Whitley, Artist: Alti Firmansyah
Strangely this comic also is one for the completists but for a totally different reason.
This is a birthday party issue for Nadia Pym but they use this as an excuse to explore her relationships to a whole slew of other characters in the Marvel universe. Do you know how she is related to Tigra's son? To Wiccan? To Jocasta? Well this issue lies it all out for you and even me who prides myself on knowing all the connections was pleasantly surprised by some I had totally blanked on.
This was quite an eye opener and well laid out as well.
Naija Geek Says: A pretty enjoyable and knowledge gaining 6.5/10
Batman Who Laughs #5 - Writer:Scott, Artist: Jock
I have to confess I am not enjoying this book at all and by this issue I have even lost track of who is what and the actual thread of the whole story and have no real drive to re-read the earlier stories to re-familirise myself.
I am totally disengaged with this and can't wait for it to be all over.
My score may be unfair and if I went back to read the past issues again I have go higher but it will not add more than 0.5 at best.
Naija Geek Says: A very meh 4/10
