Comic Review: The Punisher (2018) #228

Updated: Nov 16, 2018

Writer: Matthew Rosenberg Artist: Guiu Vilanova Publisher: Marvel Comics Release Date: July 25, 2018

This issue ends the glorious run of Frank Castle as War Machine and what a ride it was!

This whole arc was great and re-examined once again the standing of Punisher with the other superheroes and government agencies of the Marvel Universe.

In this issue we get to see a battle between Iron Man and Punisher in the War Machine suit. Predictably, Tony Stark is winning this until Frank uses the great weakness of all heroes against him – saving lives, even the lives of criminal scum.

This story is not only very well written by Rosenberg but the writer makes sure not to forget all the stuff that has come before it. Such as the fact that the Punisher was part of the evil Steve Rogers team of heroes. Frank is clearly trying to make up for that mistake of his here and it tracks logically.

The “talk” between Frank and Rhodes was a great way to have Frank stand down and clearly shows that as crazy as many people think Frank is, he is not so far gone that he will not listen to a man he respects; a military man which Tony Stark is not.

The art on this book is fine and does not distract from the story being told but also does not stand out.

Frank Castle is and has always been a bad ass and this book further cements this.

Naija Geek Says: My score is 8/10 and that is also the score for the whole arc
